Notice that each unit has double arrows to its right.

Repeat till all the necessary units are added (no worries, you'll be able to add or remove them later): Don't forget to type the separator afterwards. Click the arrow to the right of the field and pick the unit you'd like to have first.Place the cursor into the field at the top that contains the date units and delete everything with your Backspace or Delete keys:.Go to Format > Number > Custom date and time.

If you're still unhappy with the appearance of your dates, you can tailor your own custom date format: Whichever one you chose and apply, your dates will look the same: You will see the window with lots of different custom date formats available. You can access them from the same Google Sheets menu: Format > Number > Custom date and time: Luckily, there's plenty of room to improvise thanks to custom date formats. If you don't like how Google Sheets formats dates by default, I won't blame you. You can find the same formats if you click on the 123 icon on the spreadsheet toolbar: Repeat the process as needed, for as many lines as you need.Tip. To go to the next line within a cell in Google Sheets, follow these steps, while editing a cell (cursor will be blinking) press Ctrl + Enter on the keyboard, and Google Sheets will move the cursor to a new line, within the same cell.įor example, if you want to list two events on the same day, in the same cell, and you want each of those events to be listed on their own line, you would do the following: Type the name "Event 1", and while the cell is being edited (before pressing "Enter", hold the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard and then press "Enter", and Google Sheets will move the cursor to a new line within the same cell. For example, on the full-size templates with one big square per day, even though there are not multiple cells for each day like in the "Lined" version, you can still type on a new line within a single cell. While you are using the calendar templates, it can be very useful to be able to type multiple lines of items / events into a single cell.
